History and Collections 

Not far from the 13th century bastide town of Valence-sur-Baïse,  the Abbaye de Flaran was founded in 1151 in the Baïse valley.  It is in the heart of a park that the monastic buildings and gardens present a perfect illustration of a 12th century Cistercian complex, reworked until the 18th century.

Classified as an historic monument, the Abbaye de Flaran safeguards the "Simonov" collection, an exceptional collection of works of art from the 17th to 20th centuries: Ronda, Monet, Steer, Courbet... 

Cultural activities

The Conservation Department for Heritage and the Museums of the Gers (La Conservation Départementale du Patrimoine et des Musée du Gers) at the hub of the Abbaye de Flaran creates numerous cultural and educational activities throughout the year : temporary exhibitions, conferences, projects and recreational workshops for adults and children …
